The Artist Behind the Needle

I'm Kristina — a colour tattoo artist based in Manchester, specialising in anime, watercolor, and floral pieces. Every design starts as a conversation and becomes something deeply personal, drawn in vivid colour and soft detail.

We collaborated on what my preferences were, workshopped the design until we were both happy. Her detail and watercolour design is incredible. During the final session we talked about creating a full sleeve.

My second tattoo after 20 years so I was quite nervous but they made the process very easy. On the day, Kristina had a design that was just what I had pictured and sat with me to do all of the tweaks.

Common Questions

Design process — what should I send you?

If you have specific ideas, describe them in as much detail as possible and send as many references as you can, so I clearly understand what you want. I'll show you the design on the day of the appointment. If needed, we can make changes and adjustments in person. If there isn't enough information, I'll message you in advance on WhatsApp.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Every piece is unique, so pricing depends on size, detail, placement and number of sessions. After reviewing your idea, I'll provide a personalised quote. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking.

How long is a session?

A standard session is up to 7 hours.

Estimated timelines:
  • Full sleeve: usually 8–10 sessions
  • Upper arm / shoulder: 2–3 sessions
  • Forearm: 1–2 sessions

How to prepare for your appointment

  • Get a good night's sleep — being tired makes pain feel stronger.
  • Eat a proper meal 1–2 hours before your appointment and drink plenty of water.
  • No alcohol or recreational substances for at least 24 hours (48 is better).
  • Go easy on caffeine (too much can increase anxiety and sensitivity).
  • If you take any medication or have medical conditions/contraindications, let me know in advance.
  • Bring fully charged headphones and download a few films or series — it helps you stay distracted.

Clothing and skin prep

  • Wear comfortable clothes that give easy access to the area and won't rub the fresh tattoo afterwards. For shoulder/upper arm, a vest is better than a t-shirt. For legs, shorts.
  • For the best result, it helps to prep your skin: gentle exfoliation 1–2 times a week and regular moisturising, especially after a shower.
  • Shave the area the day before your appointment (with a bit of extra space). If it's the inner bicep, please shave your armpit too. If you're not confident you can do it neatly, leave it and I'll do it on the day.
  • Avoid fake tan and harsh scrubs on the area for 2–3 days before your appointment.

Numbing

I don't recommend numbing creams by default: there's a risk of allergy (including to lidocaine), the skin can react unpredictably, and healing can sometimes be less stable. The effect is often inconsistent — the cream can suddenly stop working and the pain comes back at once.

Allergies

If you have any allergies (latex, tapes/adhesives, antiseptics, medications, etc.), tell me in advance so we can use suitable materials. If you've had strong reactions to tattoos or cosmetics before, please mention it before booking.

Contraindications — when should you reschedule?

If you feel unwell (fever/cold), have active skin issues in the area, serious health conditions, blood-clotting problems, or you're pregnant/breastfeeding — message me in advance so we can confirm if it's safe to proceed. If you're unsure, ask before you come in.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you can come with a friend or partner — they can stay with you until we start the main part. For bigger projects, prep can sometimes take a few hours.

Photos / videos

I film parts of the process and take final photos of the tattoo, usually without your face. If you don't want any filming, let me know in advance.

How long does healing take?

On the surface, a tattoo usually looks healed after 10–14 days, but full recovery takes 4–6 weeks (sometimes longer depending on the area and how your body heals).
  • Gym: light activity is usually fine, but avoid heavy sweating, friction, and intense stretching of the area for the first 7–10 days.
  • Sauna / steam room: avoid for at least 2–3 weeks (4 is better).
  • Pool / sea: avoid for at least 2–3 weeks (4 is better).
  • Sun / tanning: avoid until fully healed. After that, always use SPF (see below).

Longevity (sun and SPF)

UV is the main reason tattoos fade. Avoid sun exposure until fully healed. After healing, always use SPF, especially in summer and on holiday. Tanning reduces contrast and speeds up fading.

Are touch-ups included?

One free touch-up is included within 3 months of your original session, provided you've followed the aftercare instructions. Beyond that, touch-ups are charged at a reduced rate.
